Frequently Asked Questions

A few of the basics, covered.
What’s your minimum engagement?
Plus icon
Our minimum engagement is $1,500. We’ve found we need a certain amount of time to properly understand your business and what you’re trying to achieve. That upfront thinking is what makes the work actually work, so we don’t tend to take on smaller, one-off jobs where that part gets skipped. (We do make a few exceptions, so we're all ears if you're that special case!)
How do your fees work?
Plus icon
We try to keep this as flexible as possible.
We can work on an hourly basis, fixed project pricing, or a retainer, depending on what suits the job and how you prefer to work. Some projects are very clearly defined, others evolve over time, so we’ll usually talk that through with you and land on the right approach together.
What kind of clients do you work with?
Plus icon
It really varies.
We work with small, boutique businesses locally, as well as more established companies and international clients working at a very high level. We don't niche in any particular industry as we love the challenge of a broad scope, and our design style is highly adaptable. What matters more to us is that you’re serious about what you’re doing and that you value good design and strategic thinking. The best outcomes always come from that.
Do I need to have everything figured out before coming to you?
Plus icon
No, not at all.
A lot of people come to us with something that’s not fully formed yet, and that’s completely fine. That’s kind of where we come in. We’ll help you work through it and get clear on what actually needs to happen.
What’s your process like?
Plus icon
We’re not one of those agencies that leans heavily into a super formal process. We’re not going to onboard you into Notion and make you jump through hoops or drag you through a whole bunch of systems for the sake of it. Usually it starts with a conversation. We talk about who you are, where you’re going, what you need, who your audience is, what’s working, and what’s not. We get to the heart of it pretty quickly, and then we work more instinctively from there. That probably sounds a bit loose written down, but in practice it works really well. We’ve done this enough times that we tend to get it right. If you look at our reviews and testimonials, that style of working is actually something people mention a lot.
Do you only work on large projects?
Plus icon
No, definitely not. But we do look for the right fit. We’re happy to work with smaller companies and tighter budgets, but they do need to be serious about what they’re building and open to relying on our expertise. If someone wants to micromanage every creative decision or heavily steer things based on AI output, or something ChatGPT has suggested, it usually doesn’t lead to the best result.
Are you a small studio?
Plus icon
Yes, we are a small boutique studio. But there’s no ceiling to what we can achieve, and we really believe that. We might be based in Matakana, but the quality of the work is right up there with reputable agencies. We work across a large range of businesses and project sizes, all around the world including New Zealand, America, Canada, Niue and Samoa. Being small just means the work is close, personal, and very hands-on.
Do you offer ongoing support?
Plus icon
Yes, and honestly that’s our favourite way to work. We love setting a business up properly, whether that’s a brand identity, a website, packaging, or campaign work, and then staying involved as things grow. Those long-term relationships are where the best stuff happens. We get to know the business properly, we’re on hand when things come up, and we get to see it flourish over time, which is the nicest part. We’re very into being there for the journey, not just doing one job and disappearing.
Can you help with just one part of a project?
Plus icon
Yes. Sometimes people come to us for a full brand rollout, and sometimes they just need one part done really well, like a website, packaging, copy, or photography. We can absolutely work that way too.
How we work
The difference between “that’ll do” and “that’s right.”
We understand
Plus icon
A brand only works if it’s actually built around you, your business goals, and your customers. So we ask, research, and dig deep.
Good strategy starts with good questions:
Why are we doing this? (What’s the actual goal?)
Will it still make sense as you grow?
What’s falling short, and where are the biggest opportunities?
Where will you find the best return.
We think. And then think again.
Plus icon
First ideas are rarely the best ones. We take the time to step back, challenge them, and make sure they stand the test of time.
Before we move forward, we ask:
Is it pretty or powerful?
Will it work?
Why will people care?
What will they do next?

We create. Together. (And yes, everyone has an opinion)

Nothing leaves this studio until it’s been debated, dissected, and put through a full-team interrogation. You get the creative director’s overthinking, the copywriter questioning their existence over a word, and a designer aggressively zooming in at 6400%.
Before anything leaves the studio, we ask:
Can this be improved even more?
Would we stand by this?
Has it survived the team critique?
Will it survive yours?!

We deliver. Work that works.
Plus icon
No "that’ll do." No sending it off with fingers crossed. If it’s got our name on it, it’s designed to work.
Before anything leaves our hands, we ask:
Does it actually do its job?
Will it bring in better leads and better business?
Is it built to last, or just built for now?
